    The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act aims at enhancing the livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing hundred 100 days of wage employment.

    Objectives:

    • To provide guaranteed 100 days of wage employment in a year to every registered rural household.
    • Creation of durable rural assets
    • Social inclusion of Women, SCs and STs

    Key Features:

    • Demand driven : Every registered HH/Worker has the right to demand and receive unskilled work within 15 days, failing which worker is entitled to unemployment allowance.
    • Timely Payment of Wages: Payment of wages within 15 days of MR closure, failing which the worker is entitled to delay compensation of 0.05%/ day of daily wages.
    • Transparency: Social Audit is conducted periodically by independent agency.
    • Aadhar Based Payment System (ABPS) : All the Aadhar no’s are linked with the beneficiaries’ accounts and payments are made through Bank/Post office
    • Linkage with Livelihood Activities: For SECC and other poor families.
    • Focus on NRM activities including River Rejuvenation
    • Convergence with line departments for enhancement of livelihood activities
    • Providing all weather Rural Connectivity to unconnected villages through Mera Gaon Meri Sadak (MGMS)
    • Completion of works within the stipulated time.

    Beneficiary:

    - Residency: Must be a resident of a rural area. - Age: Must be at least 18 years old. - Willingness for Manual Work: Must be willing to engage in unskilled manual labour.

    How To Apply

    Application Process-In adherence to the provisions under the Act, two application forms are attached to be used by the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS wage seekers to apply for employment under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. The process are :
    – Job Card Registration : A Job card is issued after filling the Form I in the prescribed format. – Demand of Work : A demand application form VI is filled after the registration of Job card and the workers will get work within 15 days from the date of receipt of the application.
    Documents Required-Identity Proof for Adults (18–60 years): Aadhaar card or voter ID for each adult in the household. – Bank Passbook: An active bank account details. – Photos: Two passport-sized photos
