Mukhyamantri Border Area Development Programme(MBADP)

The main objective of the Mukyamantri Border Area Development Programme (MBADP) is to address the special developmental needs of people living in remote and inaccessible areas adjacent to the international border. The aim is to saturate these border areas with essential infrastructure and livelihood activities through the convergence of Central and State schemes, while gap funding is provided under the MBADP Fund.
Under this scheme, various initiatives are permitted alongside the permissible works of the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) to enhance local development. These initiatives include skill development programs for local youth and activities aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods for community organizations such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Producer Groups (PGs), Village Producer Groups (VPGs), Livelihood Cooperatives (LCs), Village Organizations (VOs), and Cluster-Level Federations (CLFs). Additionally, the scheme emphasizes technology transfer initiatives to improve livelihood development, promotes tourism and border tourism, and fosters collaboration on technical activities to advance organic farming. Furthermore, the scheme supports the establishment of growth centers and innovative efforts, including special schemes designed to enhance livelihood opportunities and reduce migration in border areas.
The scheme is started from 2020 and being implemented through cluster approach on annual action plan basis.
