    Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is an initiative by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, aimed at transforming rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce by equipping them with the skills needed to secure employment opportunities.

    Salient Features:

    • Placement-led Skilling Programme
    • Training, boarding & lodging provided at no cost.
    • Specific targets for SC (19%), ST (3%), Minorities (10%), Women (33%), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) (5%).
    • Defined SOPs and courses aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
    • Includes Sectoral and mandatory training in IT, English & soft skills.

    • Post placement and migration support
    • Career progression

    Eligibility Criteria: 

    • Age: Rural youth aged 15-35 years (upper age limit of 45 years for women, vulnerable tribal groups, PwDs, and other special groups).
    • BPL Card Holders: Youth from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households.
    • MGNREGA Workers: Youth from households with at least 15 days’ work under MGNREGA.
    • Insurance and Food Security: Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojana Card Holder/Antodaya Anna Yojana beneficiaries.
    • NRLM SHG Family Members: Eligible if part of a National Rural Livelihood Mission Self-Help Group (NRLM SHG) family.
    • Focus on Marginalized Groups: Special emphasis on SC/ST, minorities, women candidates, and special groups.
