    Uttarakhand being a hilly state and due to geographical, economic and resource conditions, the basic needs, priorities, basis and standards of the state are different from plain states. There is a felt need to connect eligible settlements in rural areas of the state with roads. There is an urgent need to connect the local people of remote/extremely remote areas of the state with the general public and to connect them with main roads to fulfill their basic needs so that they can easily come in contact with other people and also improve their livelihood by providing market for the village produce and migration from villages can be stopped. To fulfill this objective, ”Mera Gaon Meri Sadak” scheme has been started. The target is to construct two roads per development block in 95 development blocks of the state, i.e. a total of 190 connecting roads. The scheme was started on 31 January, 2015. The cost of CC road up to 01 km in hilly and plain areas is Rs. 69.46 and 49.21 lakhs.

    For scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, 19 and 03 percent of the amount is quantified respectively.

    Residents of remote and extremely remote rural areas.

    Improved road connectivity for better access to markets and essential services.

    Eligible settlements are selected under the scheme at the development block level.
